T-Mobile installs Shared Contacts for Gmail® on the mobile phones of their enterprise customers in order to provide them a single directory accessible by all their fleet and centralised by their head offices.
Thanks to Shared Contacts for Gmail® they added a long desired contact sharing functionality to their MDM offer.
T-Mobile Business provides companies with Hosted Mobility Management Services (HMMS). Their turnkey MDM solution can manage licensing, installation, and mobile-policy configuration. It also offers ongoing user support as an extension of its enterprise IT departments. T-Mobile HMMS is available via a cloud-based or on-premises (virtual cloud) platform. However, no contact sharing or contact sync access control is provided in the current solution.
T-Mobile needs a solution that would allow customers to sync a centralized contact list from various mobile devices. In some cases, these mobile devices are deployed with limited or no access to consumer applications.
Worse, there may be no internet data connection. Hence, the solution would need to work on the device's native contacts book.
Shared Contacts for Gmail® proposed a simple solution to address all these needs. Admin and sales staff can create and manage centralized contact lists and have it automatically synced to as many devices as they need. User permissions would then be set so that the end users would never be able to add/edit/delete information from the central list with their devices.
Owners can decide if their collaborators can view only the shared contacts or also modify, delete or reshare them. They can also transfer the ownership of a whole contact list.
Manage your users, your contact lists and your google contacts labels directly from your phone.
Share contact lists and Google Contacts labels with your team, who will instantly see the shared contacts in their dashboard, in Google Contacts, their mobile devices and other third-party apps.
Now, T-Mobile Business customers who opted for HMMS enjoy contact sharing or contact sync access control. They no longer need to install a separate app for this service. Plus, being able to set user permissions grants them more control over the changes that can be made to their contact database.
"Shared Contacts for Gmail® helped the employees of our customers to access a shared contact list with different access permissions from their Android and Apple devices. Some users could add/update shared contacts, others had only read permissions. This control over contacts on mobile phones was something no MDM solution on the market could offer, besides Google Workspace coupled with Shared Contacts for Gmail®."
